Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

Kora’s Tribe is built for people, and that includes people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, reduced motion, or simply tired eyes at 2 a.m. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. This statement is a self-assessment, not a certification — WCAG is a published standard, not a body that certifies pages, and we would rather describe our site honestly than claim more than we can back up.

2. Scope

This statement covers the public pages of korastribe.com. It does not cover the administrative panel at /admin/, which is an internal tool (marked noindex, not part of the public storefront), or our Amazon storefront, which is a third-party platform we do not control.

3. What’s in place

• Keyboard-first. Every interactive element — menus, the quiz, the FAQ accordion, character cards, forms, the cookie banner — is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator and no keyboard traps. Dialogs return focus to where you left it.
• A “Skip to main content” link as the first stop on every page.
• Consistent navigation. The main public pages are listed in both the main menu and the footer. Legal and support pages are available consistently from the footer.
• Motion controls. An accessibility preferences panel, opened from the footer, lets you follow your device setting, reduce decorative motion, or allow it. Your choice is remembered. Nothing on the site flashes.
• Contrast. Body text, interface text, and non-text indicators were checked by calculation, not by eye — including sampling text over the homepage hero photograph. One exception is declared in section 4.
• Zoom and reflow. The site works down to a 320 CSS-pixel viewport and at 200% text size without horizontal scrolling or clipped content, and it survives increased line, letter, word, and paragraph spacing.
• Never colour alone. Selected quiz answers carry a check mark, open FAQ items carry an icon, links in body text are underlined.
• Accessible forms. Forms use real labels, clear error messages associated with the affected fields, and status updates announced to assistive technology.
• Semantic structure. Landmarks, one h1 per page, a logical heading order, a declared page language, and meaningful alternative text — with decorative illustrations correctly marked as decorative so a screen reader does not read them aloud.
• No cookie wall. The consent banner does not trap focus, does not block the page, and offers a genuine decline.
• Tested with a screen reader. Menus, character cards, the quiz, forms, status messages, and the cookie banner were walked through with NVDA on Chrome, in addition to keyboard and code-level review.

4. Known limitation

Criterion affected: 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum), Level AA.

On Meet the Tribe, flipping a character card reveals its description in white text over that character’s signature colour. For the lightest colours in the palette, that combination falls short of the 4.5:1 contrast ratio WCAG requires. It is a deliberate brand choice, not an oversight: the accent colours are the character’s identity, and darkening them was rejected to preserve it. The character’s name remains available on the front of the card at full, compliant contrast.

5. Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this site blocks you, we want to know — a specific report is worth more to us than a hundred passing tests. Please include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using.

6. Updates to this statement

This statement describes the site as of the review date above. We update it whenever a limitation is resolved, a new one is found, or new pages are published — not on a fixed schedule.
